Empty Chair

I sit across from your chair, now empty, and long for you
The empty chair now laden with meaning
Not just a place to sit, but you, all of you
All of you right there in the emptiness across from me

I sit across from your chair, now empty, and see you there
Your smile, your long hair, your slouch
Will a chair ever be just so, just that, again
How can you still be so present in the absence

I sit across from your chair, now empty, and feel your presence
I hallucinate, I imagine, I remember, what does the word matter
It is limited anyway, it cannot express what you are now
It can only attempt, sure to fail to describe you

I sit across from your chair, now empty, and know you are here
I see you in my neighbors smile, in the words in the snow, in the food basket
I feel you in the wind, in the sunset, in the morning dew
I sense you in the laughter, in the fog, in the rain and the stars

Everywhere

  1. You break my heart. And I suppose hearts are made to be broken open….. After all, it is the link that now connects you to your sweet Maya. Blessings

  2. So tender, so heart wrenching. Overwhelmed by your ability to magnificently write about your love, your pain, your hope.
